Driven by love of family & luxury cars

Few children can say their earliest memories involve the cars other people only dream of.

A Porsche 911 and a Maserati Levante. A Lamborghini Murcielago and a Bugatti Veyron.

A Mercedes S550 and even the rarest of the rare cars – a 1954 Kaiser Darrin.

In fact, few people of any age can even say they’ve seen, or touched one of these cars in real life. But for Alex and Kyle Witzig, luxury cars were as much of their childhood as Saturday morning cartoons.

That’s because their family business - Pro-Tech Collision Center - is very much a family business.

How Pro-Tech Collision Center Came To Be

The son of a truck driver, Scott Witzig grew up in a small home in south St. Louis County. His humble beginnings taught him how to make things last - whether it was a second-hand bicycle or school clothes.

That early lesson that quality equals value is still part of what drives Scott and his family in their business today.

After trade school, Scott earned a job at Boulevard Motors, a former Mercedes dealership in downtown St. Louis. He learned quickly, and built a reputation for precision work.

When new owners took over Boulevard and moved the business, Scott and his body shop crew began looking for a new home. They found it in a red brick building in Pacific - the place where Pro-Tech Collision Center was born in 1997.

When he founded Pro-Tech Collision Center, Scott Witzig already had a family business in mind. He brought along five of his crew from Boulevard, including his brother Jamie - who still works with him today.

His wife, Jan, worked her day job at a physical therapist but also spent her nights balancing the books for Pro-Tech Collision Center. She eventually came to work at the shop full-time.

And for their boys - Alex and Kyle - Pro-Tech was a second home. They watched TV at the shop after school and on weekends, ate dinner as a family in the office, and grew up in the presence of master technicians and cars their classmates had only seen in magazines.

Earning a Reputation for Excellence

From the beginning, Scott and his crew at Pro-Tech Collision Center focused on precision and excellence in their work. Scott started his day by 4 a.m. to be able to spend evenings at home with his young sons.

He believed then, and still does, in creating a culture where staff feel valued and respected while still building a stellar reputation among car enthusiasts throughout St. Louis and beyond.

Pro-Tech’s reputation quickly spread, and soon, some of the most prestigious, high-end automotive dealers and boutiques in the region were bringing their vehicles to the shop.

He has exceeded our expectations. He knows there’s right and wrong and no in-between,”

Fred Schwarz, owner of Erwin F. Schwartz Ltd., a high-end automotive boutique in Brentwood, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in January 2016.

Pro-Tech Collision Center has earned certifications in Mercedes,  Porsche, Audi and Maserati, an uncommon achievement for an independent garage.

Looking to the Future for
Pro-Tech Collision Center

Alex and Kyle Witzig, now adults, have taken on leadership roles at Pro-Tech.

Scott’s brother, Jamie, still works with him as a painter. His wife, Jan, handles the day-to-day operations. His oldest son, Kyle, is learning the family trade.

Alex was drawn more to the business side of things. After attending college as a business major, he saw a great opportunity to lend his expertise to the operations at Pro-Tech.

After 25 years, Pro-Tech continues to grow and cultivate a successful business with great staff and clients that have become friends.

But most importantly, we get to work with our sons every day. It doesn’t get much better than that!”
